Equally Yoked Together

So Heart Lake is pretty sweet. I love the people here. It has been a blast. So guess I never said anything about Elder Lowry. He has been out for like 8 months. He is from Evanston Wyoming. He is a massive redneck. He likes hunting and fishing and played football. 

Monday was pretty cool. So the mission home is in my area and a new missionary from Hong Kong got to our mission on Monday. So we spent the afternoon with him. Elder Leung is a pretty sweet guy. He knows English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. We ate dinner with President and Sister Shields and then and went to dinner at the Martinez's. They are a sweet family. He is the ward mission leader as of about two months ago, and he is really fired up. He is doing some amazing things with the ward involving missionary work, it is pretty sweet.

Uh yeah, I don't have a lot of time and I don't really have a brain right now. One of the things our ward is doing is a set a date program. You basically prayerfully select a date that you will have someone ready to be taught by the missionaries. So Brother Martinez's date was last Friday and he had some people but they all had to reschedule so he had nothing going into Friday. He felt like he should get an appointment with a less active who's mom, he thought, was not a member.  But she was a member. So we were just talking with them and the daughter invited her friend in to hear the discussions. She said yes and it was a pretty sweet experience. The Lord provides.

Some incredible stuff is happening in Heart Lake. I will explain more next week when I don't have 0 time.

Learning Christlike Attributes in Heart Lake

So Heart Lake is pretty sweet. I have really enjoyed everything so far. Me and Elder Lowry white washed and so both of us are new to the area. And there weren't a whole lot of notes left for us, so it has definitely been an experience trying to figure everything out. Thankfully our ward mission leader is pretty awesome and has helped us out a lot. 

We spent most of the week contacting and tracting, trying to find some people to teach and we had quite a bit of luck. Most people here seem to be pretty humble and nice, which makes missionary work a lot easier. We also get to help teach English twice a week. I guess I should learn English real quick. We did some service for a charity garden. It was pretty fun. 

Brampton is quite the city. People are everywhere and it is super diverse. Not quite the level Scarborough was, but close. There are quite a bit of Punjab people so I'm planning on trying to get a turban before I leave haha. 

We had dinner with the stake president and one of his daughters and a recent convert here. Her conversion story is pretty cool. She was working at a gym and overheard a member talking about Utah and she had seen pictures of the Temple in Salt Lake so she asked some questions about it and the member got her in touch with the missionaries and she got baptized in like a month. She is pretty cool, you would never be able to tell that she was a new member. 

So I get to see the temple just about every day. But ya know, ya boi always forgets his camera so I don't have any new pictures. So yeah. 

I have been studying the Christlike attributes in Preach My Gospel.  (They include faith in Jesus Christ, hope, charity and love, virtue, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence, and obedience.) And I have been learning a lot. They are such wonderful attributes to have and I love that they are the perfect guideline for us to be as close to Jesus Christ as we can.

Preach My Gospel, chapter 6:  The restored gospel enables you to become like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The Savior has shown the way. He has set the perfect example, and He commands us to become as He is (see 3 Nephi 27:27). Learn of Him and seek to incorporate His attributes into your life. Orangeville => Heart Lake

So, I am getting transferred. Really far away to the area right below Orangeville. I am going to Heart Lake to serve with an Elder Lowry. Heart Lake is right in the middle of Brampton and I have the temple in my area. It will be pretty sweet. Elder Tarter is staying and getting a new companion. 

So I did service at Phillip's again. And he repaid us with a pig roast. We went through the whole process of killing and cleaning and roasting. It was quite fun. The pig tasted pretty good as well. If you don't like blood, I probably wouldn't look at the pictures. I also had a fire at Phillip's. 

The youth had a fundraiser and we helped out with that. Probably washed 75 cars with just me and Tarter. It was pretty fun. I got to wash some cars with some youth and that was fun talking to them and getting to know them. 

I got to check out some beehives with Brother Jones. It was pretty cool. Definitely something I am going to do when I get back home.
