Transfer Week

I don't have a lot of time today. But I am staying in Orangeville with Elder Tarter and Elder Aspery is getting banished up north in North Bay.

Service, Scales, Stack and Scrap

Well. I think the weather was pretty good this week. There was like two days that were really hot and humid. Which I very much miss the dry weather. But that is alright. All the other days felt really nice. 

We literally did service all week. Almost nothing else. 

Monday. We didn't do service, but we helped with an FHE activity for the Ward Mission leader. It was a Scavenger hunt. 
Tuesday. We loaded a bunch of trash and scrap metal in a Uhaul and unloaded it at the dump.

Wednesday. We moved and stacked a 15 foot long and 10 foot tall stack of wood. 

Thursday. We stacked another wall of wood but only like 5 feet high and then threw a bunch of trash wood into a ditch. And moved a bunch of crap into a shed. (The first three days were at the same house. He was in a huge time pinch and needed a lot of stuff done this week.)

Friday. We helped remove wallpaper off a wall in a different room of the same lady's house we painted last week. Which by the way sucks a lot, wallpaper is no bueno.  And we patched the drywall in that room and started to paint it. 

Saturday. We moved a bunch of junk/crappy furniture out of Sister Conley's mom's house. 

We didn't really have anything else happen this week. The neighbor's cat named Tulip is pretty good friends with us now.
We found a dead bird in the bumper of our car. Which I don't remember hitting a bird. So we blamed Tulip for putting it in our bumper. 

The Penny's had us over for dinner on Saturday so I could go fishing. We were going to go on Monday but we got rained out. I caught one in like five minutes and then let the little kids fish. It was a blast. 

Today we played a 2v2/3v3 basketball game against some young men in the ward and one of their dads. Both

mine (I did something to it last week playing basketball) and Elder Aspery's right shoulders are hurt and we don't have very good range of motion, and they were pretty good. But I summoned my inner Chris Paul and Elder Aspery pulled out the Kobe and Brother Morton channeled in his Dirk Nowitzki.

Paint, Pizza, Pennys and Portuguese. And More Pizza!

It snowed. But it is currently 15 degrees (59 F) so I am not that upset. Weather up here is super weird. Everybody keeps saying it is going to start warming up. But they have been saying that for a while now.

We started out the week by finding out who the new bishop was. We went to go visit the Penny's, and they have a 9ish year old. And he was just chilling, goofing off and his mom asked us if our dads had been in any big callings before. And we were like yeah both our dads had been in bishoprics. Gideon the 9 year old just turns around and says, "My dad is the new bishop." It was super funny.

We got invited to activity days so we could help show the girls how to make butter out of something. I don't actually remember what it started as. But we put it in a jar and we all shook the jar. It is really weird cause it starts out liquid and then goes solid then liquid again and then a lump of butter in butter milk. It was really weird. I think all the girls liked making it. 

On Thursday/Friday we painted a bunch of ceilings in a house. A member's friend needed service so we helped them move stuff and paint ceilings. It was pretty fun. And not to be to prideful. It didn't look like garbage. And the member had us over for pizza after so bonus. 

I think I said something about the less active's daughter that wanted to get baptized. We met with them and she really wants to be baptized but I don't think either of them really realize the importance of church. So that will be something we will hopefully be teaching them. 

We got free pizza again Saturday. We went to go visit Alyssa and forgot it was her birthday. And they were having a party and gave us some pizza. She came to church yesterday and she is really enjoying it I think. 

The Pennies has us over for dinner Saturday and invited two non member friends! It was pretty sweet being able to talk to the friends and they asked some good questions. They also had s'mores over a campfire. Which was sweet. 

Not too much happened. We got dropped by one of the media referrals. She had read some stuff online and was no longer interested and she called us in the middle of church to let us know. That was lame. The other one is still interested, but she is on vacation for a month. Tracting is super not effective here. But I think the secret is to not speak the same language as them. She was Portuguese and her English was not very good. We said something about if we had a Book of Mormon in her language so we are going to try and go back with one of the members that speaks Portuguese. 

We met with a less active family and they are super cool. The dad is big on hunting and fishing which is awesome. What is also awesome is he said he would have us over for dinner and it would be wild meat. Which tastes ten times better than store bought meat. 

We have meal appointments all this week. :)

Look UP!

Freezing rain came again. And I had to drive to the temple in it. Which was worth it. The spirit that is in the temple is like none other. I wish I could go more. Especially now that I am only 40 minutes away instead of 5 hours away in Smitty. But that is alright. We are trying to focus on the work for the living instead of the dead. 

Not too much happened this week. We had a lot of meetings. But it was still a great week. We had Zone conference on Wednesday. They talked a lot about obedience, whether to mission rules or just obedience to the gospel.  The spirit was really strong as we learned about it. President Shields is really good with his instructions.
We went out on Thursday with our Ward mission leader to go visit some less actives. One of them was receptive and asked for home teachers cause she hasn't seen them in a while so we were pretty excited about that. So the freezing rain came Thursday night and Bro Lalonde drives a tiny little mini cooper that me and elder Aspery don't really fit into. But it's hilarious. Anyways Bro Lalonde was drifting a ton while he was driving. It was so funny. He had some fantastic drifts as well.
Friday was the temple, which is always amazing. It was a small reunion from Kingston zone. Elder Beddes and Elder Hafen were there. It was a party. 

Saturday and Sunday was fantastic. I loved conference so much. It was such a great one. One of my favorite talks was by Elder Choi I think. He talked a lot about looking up and loving Christ. If you keep your focus on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ you can be so much happier in this life and the next. The bishop's wife also made us homemade Cafe Rio for the last session yesterday. It was fantastic.
