On the evening of September 6th, 2016, Elder Andrew Penman Talbot was set apart by our Stake President and sweet friend, President Carlyle Knudsen. Beside our immediate family, Grandma and Grandpa Nordhoff and Great Grandma Marsden were also there. Dad was invited to give a prayer, then our bishop and each member of our Glenmoor Stake Presidency gave a quick thought and advice for Andrew. Then Elder Talbot was set apart as a missionary, and he joined the ranks of the full time missionaries numbering over 74,000 serving throughout the world. That number includes many of Andrew's friends! He said goodbye to the grandparents and to Heidee and Jonathan.
After some time at the temple, and a quick drive around the other Provo Temple, we made our way to the MTC drop off area. Time to say goodbye...
While he was saying goodbye to his sisters, and Mom was snapping pictures, we heard someone holler 'TALBOT!' As we turned, we recognized Simote Lokotui from the Bingham High Football team who is also currently in the MTC preparing for his mission! Elder Talbot turned with a huge grin on his face, gum hanging out, happy to have a friend greet him. What a tender mercy to return home and find that exact moment was captured on camera.
He gathered his belongings with the help of his host and didn't look back! And so, his two years begins!
